Coiled by Jane Hodson for Dolores Gatz
Jane coiled a lovely pine needle basket. It was wrapped in a plain white tissue paper, but something about the way the tissue paper was wrapped and folded told me I was in for the most delicate surprise inside. I was not disappointed. Like the one that I saw of Hazel's, once again I was awed by the detailed stitches. Jane had used dyed pine needles. They are the color of a rich rust or terre cotte with black stitching. A great choice of coloring. I enjoy all colors, but the black with the rust are very rich and striking. She finished the piece off with a black scalloped edge.
